There is no formal dress code, but members are expected to wear appropriate safety gear when riding and to present themselves respectfully, especially at Masonic events.
Yes, but not if they are clubs that operate outside the principles of Freemasonry. You must not be affiliated with any group that could bring disrepute to the WSMBA.
Yes. If you're moving into Sussex or already a member elsewhere, you can request a transfer. Your previous Chapter may need to confirm your standing.
Yes. Members must have valid insurance and breakdown cover. The Chapter does not provide this.
We use the “Second Man Drop-Off” system. The Road Captain leads the group and appoints riders to mark turns, with a Tail-Ender at the back. Staggered formation, hand signals and briefings ensure safe riding. Details are covered in the Ride Safety Policy.
The patch shows you're a Master Mason and member of the WSMBA. It includes the Square and Compasses, sprigs of Acacia, and the words "Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association." Only full members may wear it.
No. Members may only wear front patches approved by the Chapter. Backpatches are not used in Sussex. No MC-style patches or anything suggesting territorial claims is allowed. Offensive patches are also banned.
Yes. Guests are welcome as riders or pillions. The member is responsible for briefing them on safety and ensuring they do not wear inappropriate colours or patches.
We understand that people have other commitments, but members are expected to attend regularly. Absences from formal events (AGM, Ride Outs) should be notified with apologies.
This is an official, organised group ride that has been approved by the President. Safety rules and formation guidelines apply. Attendance is encouraged.
Natter Nights are usually held on the third Thursday of each month. An Annual General Meeting is held in July. Six meetings a year, including rides, are expected from members.
- Regular ride-outs (usually most weekends in riding season)
- Charity rides such as Toy Runs and Easter Egg Runs in collaborations with neighbouring Chapters
- Monthly meetings (Natter Nights)
- Family events (BBQs, pub nights, quiz nights)
- National rallies with other Chapters
- Lodge visits to support other Masonic units
Cornerstones are the Chapter’s social support group. Open to friends, family and newer Masons, Cornerstones can ride and take part in events but do not vote. If a Cornerstone becomes a Master Mason, their patch can be exchanged.
If you can no longer ride either through illness or financial difficulty, you are welcome to remain a member subject to paying annual subscriptions.
No specific brand or style is required, but we recommend bikes of at least 500cc. All bikes must be road-legal and in safe working order. Classic motorcycles are also welcome. Younger riders just starting out on smaller engines is also fine.
Complete an application form. You may be asked to provide a clearance certificate and a summons. Your Lodge Secretary may be contacted. A meeting with Chapter Officers will follow.

Yes. You can join as a Cornerstone if you're an Entered Apprentice or Fellowcraft. This also applies to family, friends and fellow riders. Cornerstones can attend social events and ride-outs, but do not have voting rights.
Only Master Masons in good standing with a Lodge recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) can become full members. You must also own and ride a road-legal motorcycle suitable for group riding.
The WSMBA is a group of Freemasons who ride motorcycles and raise funds for charity. We are not an MC, MCC, or 1% club and do not claim any territory. Chapters exist throughout the UK and Ireland.
